Here are answers to common questions about the New Straitsville Public Library.
If an item is out, can I be put on a waiting list?
Yes. We can do this for you. You may reserve an item if it is unavailable or in circulation. When it becomes available, we can give you a phone call or send you an email. In-stock item holds expire after 3 days.
How large is your collection?
We have approximately 12,021 books, several DVDs, board games, and video games.
Can your library help me borrow materials from another library?
I'm sorry. We cannot help with this. We are an independent library. We are not a branch of another main library system and we do not participate in Inter-Library Loan systems, also known as ILL.
What types of materials do you have in your collection?
We have books, magazines, videos, audio CDs, audio books, video games, bakeware, board games, sporting equipment, sewing machines, historical photographs, and genealogy index records.
Can I type my term paper or resume at the library?
Yes. You may use our computers for typing term papers, resumes, or anything you wish to type up. The computers are set up with Microsoft Office 2016.
Does the library use volunteers?
We are always accepting applications.
How old is the library building?
The library building is 99 years old. It was built in 1927.
How do I find magazine articles at your library?
We do not have any special way of cataloging or collecting magazine articles. We only keep current magazines unless they have major historical significance.
